Homemade Headboard

Ok folks so I was inspired to do this from a shutter headboard that I saw on Shanty2Chic and I've been wanting a headboard for our king size bed. I had a hard time finding shutters and when I get a project into my head it's nearly impossible for me to be patient.
There were closet doors in abundance though and they were just the right length. So I dove in hoping they would turn out.

Gracie doing her best pose in front of the doors.

There they are in all their glory. I filled in the holes for the knobs with spackling, next time I would totally use wood putty though.

I spray painted them black, sanded them down for a bit of distressing and stuck an adorable little girl in front to dress them up and...voila!

On a side note. While Gus was gone hunting I wanted to paint the bedroom and suprise him. I chose blue and green because I wanted it to be peaceful and relaxing and while I love these colors and even love them together I don't like them in our room. I'm not sure why and they totally don't go with the curtains. I'm still a novice painter you know. So hopefully sooner than later I will be repainting our bedroom a pretty dark tan color. Wish me luck.
As for the headboard, I'm pleased with my beginners efforts. (First time using a drill without my husbands supervision) However if I come across a plethera of shutters I may do that again too. We'll see. For now I'm happy with it though.

I love it! I may have to steal that idea. I wish we had a headboard so bad, and that is dang adorable.
