Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Flu?

Not me!
Dr Laurie is in the house! Ok kidding. I don't really think that much of myself.

However, having worked in the vitamin store industry for 4+ years, I do think I learned a thing or two.

Being hestitant to get this new flu shot they have for the swine flu, I have been thinking of other ways to arm my family's immune systems.

So here's what I've come up with:

Oscillococcinum
Looks intimidating I know. It's pronounced Ah-sil-o-cox-i-num. Lovingly called Oscillo for short.
It is a homeopathic remedy and while I was never that well versed in Homeopathy (or a big fan, honestly) I do know that this stuff FLEW off the shelves. People could not tell us enough good things about it. I finally tried it an I was pleased to have the same results as everyone else. Awesome.
And it comes in childrens versions too.

A couple things about Homeopathy I do know.
-Avoid touching the little pills. (They come in handy dandy little tubes that you can just pour into your mouth)
-Let them dislove under your tongue
-They taste good. ;)

Acidophilus
(aka probioics, aka good bacteria, aka live active cultures)
This is my favorite supplement ever!
Though most of you proabably know this, it's the stuff in yogurt that makes it so good for you. (well at least it's supposed to be in yogurt)
It fights off the bad bacteria in your digestive system and replenishes the good.
It's incredible for your immune system, digestive system (of course), an a myriad of other things. It's highly underated if you ask me.
I know that when I take it regularly my skin clears up, I don't ge sick nearly as much and my digestive system...well...you know.

Vitamin C
Pretty sure I don't need to say too much about this one. It strengthens the immune system like nobody's business.
I plan on taking 1500-3000 mgs a day (no it's not too much).
I plan on giving Gracie about 1000-1500 a day during flu season.

Preaching is waaaay easier than practicing but assuming I do practice I think it will be much harder for me to get sick.

Some other things I'll probably throw in there from time to time.
Herb Teas
Echinacea
Garlic (capsules for the non stincky factor)

Let's hope my plan works for me and my family.
We'll keep you posted.
