Welcoming Wintertime...oops, I mean Summertime with a trip to Arizona

Where did we go on vacation, you ask? Alaska, Canada maybe....? In the dead of winter....of course.
Nope...Arizona....just a couple weeks before June.

Now granted this is in the mountains of Arizona about 8,000ft elevation so it does get cold in the winter but,........it was almost June for pete's sake!!!

Yeah, so it broke something like a 100 year record for snow that late in the year and we just happend to pick that week to visit.

Gus' parent's were asked to go take care of the LDS Girls Camp in Alpine, AZ for the summers and so that's where we got to go visit. It is beautiful there and we were excited about being in the mountains. I did not prepare for the snow however.

We did have a few nice days and managed to get some fishing in. Gus and Smokey caught 12 fish between the 2 of them on the first fishing day and 6 fish the second fishing day. One of the trout was 17 inches long.

I reeled one in but I can't really say I caught it because it was on Gus' extra pole. It was pretty fun. Gracie loved fishing a ton better this time because she figured out how to cast and reel all by herself. We were so proud and after a few hours and a hook in the cheek she still didn't want to stop.
I would have had pictures of fishing except I didn't have batteries in my camera. Bummer...there would have been some good ones.

Anyway here are some more pictures that we did get:

Aunt Raysha was awsome and brought tons of activities for Gracie and Scotty to do. This one was one of their favorites. It kept them occupied for quite some time. I love Play-Doh

Raysha and Grandpa Smokey. We were waiting out the cold weather, hoping to get outside. We now know what Cabin Fever really means. ;)

Grandma Ethel, taking a rare moment to rest. She works so hard to make sure everyone is well fed and comfortable.

Cousins Gracie and Scotty....they loved playing (and fighting) with each other. They're favorite game was hiding in the blankets.

My handsome Gus turned 32 on the 24th. He's not the biggest fan of cake, but loves rice krispie treats and so that's what he had as his cake. YUM.

Opening presents. Gus' loot:
a watch, cologne, a dutch oven for camping, and a gift card to Bass Pro Shops.

Grandma didn't want the kids to feel left out so she bought them an activity book each and they got to unwrap it. They were excited! Thanks Grandma!
Gracie playing with daddy the night before we left! Daddy's so fun!
We had a great time visiting family and can't wait to see them again. We miss them.
It is always nice to come home though.

It was so good to see you guys and spend time together. Even though it was close quarters and bad weather!! Shame on you for posting such HORRIBLE pictures of me!! Well, we were in the mountains, maybe I DID look that bad. Thanks for the fun times.

I'm glad you guys had fun, even though it was such terrible weather! I was sad I wasn't there...until the snow. Then I wasn't quite so sad. :)
